Yea...so...that last challenge didn't go so well. I think my mom had a net loss but I ended up staying about the same. So - I started up a Wedding Weight Loss plan for myself over at NikkiLynn.net. I was using this blog to keep things separate (and a little more private) but this is serious - I need to take ownership of my health - so I decided to just post it there where I know people are watching.
Come on over & visit if you like. I don't think I'll be posting much here (besides updating my Weight Loss tracker) for the next few months at least.
Cheers to a Happy & Healthy life! ~ Nikki

Another challenge
I went on vacation, ate like a queen, drank some delicious beers and walked a LOT. Luckily I came back and after 3 weeks of not really paying attention I was only up .5! Also, while I was away my amazing mom lost TWO MORE POUNDS! Yay!
My mom & I decided to embark on another challenge. This one is 8 weeks, wrapping up just before Christmas, and the one who loses the most weight will be treated to lunch at Q'cumbers by the smaller loser (although we're both winners...right?). We started with new beginning weights last Wednesday 10/22 and although we will both know how much we have lost total, this is a clean slate beginning.

Challenge Weigh In Weeks 1 & 2
I kept forgetting to ask my mom if she minded me posting our weight loss tracking on my blog but finally over the weekend I got her permission.
Nikki:
Week 1: -4 pounds!
Week 2: -1 pound
Total Loss: 5 pounds
Comment: I credited the 4 pound loss in week 1 to the 24 hour fast I completed the day before and was expecting to gain weight in week 2 but I didn't! I'm very happy about that. I didn't complete the 7 day detox but after the fast I enjoyed a lighter feeling so I've been trying to not eat so much all at one time anymore. Also, I just started to incorporate activity into my routine on Monday so I'm hoping that will help boost my numbers again for next week.
Mom:
Week 1: -3 pounds!
Week 2: -3 pounds!
Total Loss: 6 pounds
Comment: My mom hasn't been able to get on the exercise bandwagon either yet. She works at an elementary school and it's the first week w/students which is not going to help because she's working so much. Hopefully she can make the time to take care of herself because without our health we cannot work to our full potential.
So we're already 1/3 of the way done with this challenge and we're REALLY close! I guess I'm going to have to kick it up a notch to keep up with her 3 pound average...wish me luck. :)

7 Day Diva Detox!
As part of this challenge with my mom I decided to complete the Raw Divas 7 Day Detox. I have been feeling really bloated lately and am looking forward to realigning my eating habits to a more simple pattern. We will see how this goes. Today is Day 1 and that is a fast. No, that doesn't mean the day will go quickly...it means I don't consume anything besides water for 24 hours. I had dinner last night with Chris and my brother and now I won't be eating again until I meet up with Liz tonight. Just thinking about the 2 meals that "sandwich" my fast makes me realize how much of an emphasis we have put on food - so many social events are centered on it! Anyway, we're supposed to end with a mono-meal of fruit but since we'll be eating out I will have a simple salad with squeezed lemon juice for dressing.
I wonder how much water I'll drink between 8:00AM and 6:00PM today. I just filled up my water bottle with 30oz of water to start the day. I am going to guess 150 ounces which is just about 5 refills of my nalgene bottle. That's one refill every 2 hours. I think I'll update here when I do to keep track.
8:00AM - 30 ounces
9:00AM - 30 ounces
Update: I am FREEZING. I was hoping the office would be warmer today but I guess not. Also, I'm guessing the water consumption will slow down as the day goes on. I usually wake up a little dehydrated.
11:40AM - 30 ounces
12:45PM - 30 ounces
Update: I am still freezing & now I'm feeling crabby. Food restriction is not nice! I guess I'm 1/2 done with this 10 hour "experiment" but I still have a long way to go. Also there is a chance that I'll be eating dinner before 6 but if that is the case I'm not going to worry too much.
3:35PM - 30 ounces
Update: Yikes...fasting on a work day sucks! I'll probably be working for another hour or so & then off to meet Liz for dinner. We plan to keep it an early night and I think that's good. I doubt I will refill my nalgene again so I guess I was right on...150 ounces. And, surprisingly, I haven't peed much more than normal.

6 Week Challenge
Beginning this morning I am participating in a weight loss challenge with my mom. I was talking with her yesterday and we agreed that we would each put $50 on the table and the winner (person who loses the most weight in the next 6 weeks) takes all...I already know how I'm going to spend my winnings! ;)
Here are the rules:
Here are the rules:- Weigh in the morning of 8/20 and track your starting weight
- Weigh in the next 6 Wednesdays ending 10/1 and track the changes
- Email your loss/gain each week (I will likely post both our progress here but I need to get the ok from her first)
- Don’t do anything that you KNOW will harm your body just to win
